Food Lion robbery under investigation in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that happened at Food Lion on A.L. Philpott Hwy., in Martinsville.

The call came in on January 17th, at approximately 8:56p.m.

Deputies said, a man entered the store, approached a cashier and demanded money. 

According to the victim, the suspect gestured as though he had a weapon but did not actually display one. He was wearing dark colored clothing and a blue bandanna. He is described as being 6’00 tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.

Deputies said he got away with an undisclosed amount of money. 

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the individual involved in this robbery. Anyone having information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this individual is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463).  The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
