ABINGDON, Va. (WFXR) — Food City is launching its second annual food drive to benefit animal shelters and animal humane organizations in the area.

The Friends/Pets in Need Holiday Food Drive begins today, Nov. 13 and continues through Dec. 31.

Customers during this time can purchase marked bags containing non-perishable food items or pet food products at all Food City locations.

Customers can also drop off pet food at collection bins located at the front of all stores, that will directly benefit local animal humane organizations.

“Food City’s ongoing hunger relief initiatives have been a tremendous success and we are hoping to set a new record with this year’s drive to help our neighbors and furry friends in need,” said Food City President and Chief Executive Officer, Steven C. Smith.
