From September 21 through September 30, Food City teamed up with local media affiliates to host a chain- wide fundraising campaign and raised more than $167,000 for Hurricane Florence relief efforts.
This also included a $5,000 corporate contribution from Food City.
“The lives of many of our friends and neighbors have been devastated by Hurricane Florence. We want to do everything possible to provide assistance during this critical time,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.
All Food City locations throughout Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Georgia participated in the campaign.
Customers were given the opportunity to make monetary donation at checkout.
Check presenters present the check on November 19.
The funds were split between the Samaritan’s Purse and The Salvation Army to assist with relief efforts.
