Food Banks in the Roanoke area prepare for Hurricane Florence

Local News

Food banks in our area are preparing for the worst from Hurricane Florence.

At Feeding America, they have been preparing all week to figure out how to best serve the community.

They say, they are prepared but waiting for the storm to hit to see what the community will need.

They say they are lucky to be a part of a network of food banks and have great partners who are willing to help.

“And other food banks that we have connections with, that we’re friends with have called us up and said hey, we’re ready to help you out if you need it, if you need people, if you need trucks, what do you need, let us know and we will help you out,” said Amanda Allen with Feeding America Southwest Virginia.

They also say they are partnering with other organizations like the American Red Cross to help victims.
