UPDATE 12:49 p.m.: According to Danville city officials, Danville Regional Airport has reopened Monday afternoon following the snowstorm-related closure from Sunday.
Meanwhile, the City of Roanoke says Valley Metro Roanoke has pushed back Monday’s service to 2 p.m. on all routes due to current road conditions.
(WFXR) — A number of flights are canceled and several ground transportation services are delayed after Sunday’s winter storm brought plenty of snow and ice to southwest and central Virginia.
According to Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, the following flights have been canceled as of this writing:
- Allegiant flight 2245 from Sanford Orlando (8:26 a.m.)
- American flight 6037 from Charlotte (10:23 a.m.)
- American flight 6124 from Charlotte (12:14 p.m.)
- United flight 4334 to Washington-IAD (8:05 a.m.)
- Allegiant flight 2377 to Sanford Orlando (9:11 a.m.)
- American flight 6037 to Charlotte (10:48 a.m.)
- American flight 6124 to Charlotte (12:39 p.m.)
Over at the Lynchburg Regional Airport, American flights 6126 and 6101 both to and from Charlotte have been canceled for Monday. In addition, American flight 6104 from Charlotte will arrive at 9:48 p.m. instead of 7:23 p.m.
As of this writing, the Danville Regional Airport is still closed after the snowy weather on Sunday, Jan. 16 made it unsafe to continue operations.
Meanwhile, Amtrak has canceled Northeast Regional train 156, which operates between Roanoke and New York, on Monday because of inclement weather.
As for bus services, Valley Metro buses will start late on Monday due to hazardous weather conditions. The first bus will leave Campbell Court Transfer Center at 12:15 p.m., the first Smart Way bus heading to the New River Valley will leave Campbell Court at 12:50 p.m., and the first Smart Way Express bus will leave VTC at 12:30 p.m. However, Star Line Trolley service is canceled for Monday, and Valley Metro administrative offices will be closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Radford Transit says service will start at 11 a.m. on Monday, but that service will be “City Only” service, which means only routes 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 will be running.
Greater Lynchburg Transit Company expects to delay service until 11:45 a.m. on Monday, but some routes may need adjusting based on road conditions.
Blacksburg Transit will also delay services until noon on Monday, with “intermediate” service level.
Danville city officials say there will not be any Danville Transit service on Monday for MLK Day.
