ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — An afternoon crash left one person trapped by an overturned dump truck along an Alleghany County highway, but first responders came to that person’s rescue.

According to a Facebook post from the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad on Monday, May 11, first responders were dispatched to a report of a multi-vehicle crash with an entrapment and a possible vehicle fire along I-64 at approximately 1:06 p.m.

Crews arrived at the scene to discover a heavily-damaged dump truck on its side and one person trapped, officials say. After a lengthy extrication process, the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad says the person was freed from the truck, treated, and transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Numerous emergency units responded to the crash, according to officials.
