LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire that occurred on Thursday night.

Around 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 17, the Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to the 1700 block of Monroe Street for a house fire.

Sean Regan the Battalion Chief with LFD tells WFXR News that when crews arrived, they found flames coming from the second story of the house.

Firefighters said when they entered the house, they began extinguishing the blaze. First responders conducted a search and learned the house was vacant.

At this time point, the LFD believes the fire started on the first floor and began spreading to the second floor.

The Fire Marshal is still working to determine the cause.
