ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Mark your calendars, animal lovers, because the biggest pet adoption event in the Roanoke Valley is less than two weeks away!

During the “Summer of Love MEGA Pet Adoption Event,” animal shelters, rescues, and volunteers from all over southwest Virginia — including the Roanoke Valley, the Alleghany Highlands, the New River Valley, Southside, and beyond — will bring numerous animals to the Berglund Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31

Not only will there be free entry and free parking, but there will also be adoption fee specials for the dogs, cats, and other critters.

“Staff and volunteers will be on hand from each rescue to answer your questions and provide information on each animal,” Angels of Assisi said in a statement about the event on Thursday, July 22. “This event is for the whole family, so we hope to see you there!”

The Alleghany Humane Society, Angels of Assisi, Clover Cat Rescue, Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood and Adoption Center, Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Humane Society of Montgomery County, Margaret’s Saving Grace Bully Rescue, Pittsylvania Pet Center, Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection, Roanoke Valley SPCA, and Smyth Animal Rescue are set to participate in Saturday’s adoption event.
