Evening congestion builds as drivers head home as Thanksgiving weekend concludes

(WFXR) – Roadways across central and southwest Virginia are active as drivers are hitting the highway returning home after a long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

As of 5 p.m., VDOT is showing congestion near the 81/581 split in Roanoke County as well as parts of I-77 in Wythe County.

Another spot with congestion is around the 64-81 split near Lexington.

If venturing out, be sure to drive with caution and watch for slower traffic with more drivers on the road.
