For the first time, those near Eureka Park in Roanoke to host a Fall Celebration.
Kids in costumes went trick or treating at the park.
Roanoke Parks and Recreation also had hot dogs and popcorn and drinks.
Event organizers were expecting around 200 families and they say the event was packed with people all night.
Parents say it’s a great way to get the community together and keep the kids safe during this festive time.
“It’s actually a great event because you don’t have to worry about anything happening to your kids.You don’t have to worry about food getting poisoned or anything like that. They can just come out, get what they need, and go back home and have a good time,” said Rudolph Cheeseboro
“Well this is just one of those situations where everybody gets to come out. Everyone in the neighborhood gets to talk and fellowship, all the kids and it’s a safe environment<” said Perry Taylor, event volunteer.
Organizers say the event was actually an idea which came from the kids in their after school program at the park.
