Virginia State Police said two people were seriously injured and one person was killed in a car crash.

The crash happened Monday, at 9:55 a.m., on Route 15, less than a mile south of Route 680 in Charlotte County.

According to Trooper D. Meeks, a Dodge Caravan was traveling south on Route 15 when it crossed the center line and hit a northbound Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck. The impact of that crash caused the Ford to run off the left side of the highway, hit a ditch and overturn.

Meanwhile, the Dodge Caravan continued south in the northbound lane and hit a Hyundai Sonata, head-on. Trooper Meeks said the impact of this crash caused the Dodge and the Hyundai to run off the right side of the highway.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan and the driver of the Ford F-250 were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Trooper Meeks said both drivers were from Keysville, Va.

The driver of the Hyundai, Alma F. Carrington, 75, of Keysville, Va., died at the scene.

Charges are pending as the crash remains under investigation.
