DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – After the announcement that Chief of Police, Scott Booth will be taking over in the Star City as Roanoke Police Department’s new Chief of Police, Danville City Manager Ken Larking made the announcement on September 12th of their new interim chief.
Deputy Police Chief Chris Wiles has served the Danville Police Department for 30 years and will be taking over as interim Police Chief in October while the city conducts a national search for their next chief.
Wiles joined the department on September 1st, 1993, and was named Deputy Police Chief in December of 2022. Throughout his career, he also served as a major, as well as commanding the operations division.
City Manager Larking expects the search for the city’s permanent chief to be complete by the end of 2023.
