Danville Police investigating an armed robbery at a local food mart

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a food mart at gunpoint. 

Danville Police say they responded around 12:45 Thursday morning to the Speedway Food Mart on North Main Street. 

Police say an employee told them a suspect walked in and pointed a handgun at him. 

The employee said the suspect then left the store on foot with money. 

Police say they are not able to determine which way the suspect went after that. 

The suspect is described as wearing all black clothing. 

No one was injured in the robbery.

“Danville Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at Speedway Food Mart located at 1503 North Main Street on 12-07-17. At 12:45 AM on 12-07-17, Danville Police responded to a reported armed robbery at Speedway Food Mart located on North Main Street. An employee advised the suspect entered the store pointing a handgun at him. The suspect was a B/M wearing all black. There were no additional detailed descriptors on the suspect or handgun. The suspect left the store with an undetermined amount of money, on foot and in an unknown direction of travel. No one was injured in this incident. The police investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000, or via our crime tips line on your computer at crimetips@danvilleva.gov.
