UPDATE: Dan River rises, causing road closures and blocking entrance of Danville theater

UPDATE 8:59 p.m.: The City of Danville has closed Goodyear Boulevard at Pumpkin Creek due to flooding.

At 8:16 p.m., the Dan River had reached. 23.26 feet.

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — According to the City of Danville, the Dan River is slowly rising and has gone above its minor flood stage level of 21 feet, causing road closure from Trade Street to Advance Street. The entrance to Danville Stadium Cinemas is also closed.

As of 4:16 p.m. the river was at 22.69 feet.

River Street and Goodyear Boulevard remain open.
