In Salem, a monument was dedicated at an historic African-American cemetery Sunday.
Private donations paid for three crosses at the East Hill North Cemetery.
The cemetery was established in 1871, but had been neglected and vandalized over the years.
About six years ago, a local deacon, John H. Branson started working to restore it.
He built three small crosses, but they were vandalized.
Branson died back in 2012.
Sunday they dedicated the new larger crosses in his honor.
