Community meeting to talk about transportation surrounding 419 Town Center project

Local News

On Wednesday, at the Hilton Garden Inn, there was another public meeting about the 419 Town Center Project, this one specifically about transportation.

People gave their opinions on how the transportation system could change along Electric Road and different intersections, including adding bike lanes and sidewalks for pedestrians and linking the green ways to the retail and residential spaces.

Project managers say it’s just as important to think about walkers and bikers just as much as people coming by car.

“When we talk about a town center, it’s a place that needs to be an exciting and vibrant place for everyone and a walk able place, and a bike able place. Somewhere you may arrive by car, but you are spending two to three hours in this environment. Do to do we need to look at the amenities, we can’t just be focused on the car,” said  Stephen Kearney, 419 Town Center Project Manager.

The project managers also talked about making the area easily accessible for people with disabilities.

The planning stage for the project is moving fast, with final plan proposed for March or April.
