The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is considering a request by the Roanoke Gas Company. The company is looking to increase its base rates for its natural gas customers in Virginia.
Roanoke Gas is seeking an increase in annual operating revenue of $10.5 million. An official with the SCC says “the proposal increases base rates, the portion of a customer’s bill charged to recover the costs of repairing, upgrading, and operating the system of pipes used to deliver natural gas to customers.”
The average residential customer could expect almost an 11 percent increase on their monthly bill.
Roanoke Gas Company serves approximately 55,000 households in Roanoke and the surrounding area.
