Danville City Manager Ken Larking has declared a local state of emergency.

A city spokesman said the state of emergency is needed because of the heavy rain and winds that has left streets flooded throughout the city and power outages.

They released the following statement:

Residents and visitors are urged to take precaution, do not attempt to travel unless necessary, and if they do travel, then do not drive through flooded streets or go near downed power lines.
