A 3-year-old child was rushed to Roanoke Memorial Hospital Monday night after suffering an accidental gunshot to the forehead, according to a Roanoke Circuit Court search warrant.
“I basically just want everyone to pray for my little man, man,” said Trayvon Crowder, the child’s father. “Like he just needs so much prayer.”
Crowder spoke with WFXR about the incident. He says the boy was with his mother at the time of the accident.
“It’s just been- nothing I ever thought,” he said. “It’s like a dream, almost. Like, is this real?”
“I couldn’t do nothing but- I was shedding tears.”
He rushed to the hospital after hearing the news. When he arrived, his son was hooked up to IVs. Thankfully, the bullet didn’t penetrate his skull.
“Man, I’ve got so many words I can say,” Crowder said. “He’s like- he’s brilliant, basically. He’s God’s child. He’s gifted, basically. Very gifted.”
The warrant says officers seized “guns, safe, money, scales, ammunition, magazine” and “toy gun” from an apartment complex on the 700 block of Westwood Blvd NW.
Crowder says doctors have not shared specific details about his son’s condition. They have told him his three-year-old son is improving and recovery could take weeks or months.
