CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — An investigation is underway following the death of a Roanoke driver who crashed in Charlotte County in late July.

At approximately 7:08 a.m. on Sunday, July 24, Virginia State Police say they responded to a single-vehicle crash on Drakes Main Street, about a mile south of Westpoint Stevens Road.

According to authorities, a 2019 Subaru Outback was heading south on Drakes Main Street, ran off the right side of the road, and hit a mailbox and a tree.

The driver — identified by officials as 76-year-old Willis M. Muska of Roanoke — was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but he was brought to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police tell WFXR News they are investigating driver fatigue as a contributing factor in this deadly crash.
