(WFXR) – Centra has announced it has signed a Definitive Agreement with Salisbury House, owner of New Story Schools, a leading provider of special education and behavioral health services, to sell Rivermont Schools’ 13 campuses across Virginia.
Rivermont Schools serves children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities.
“We believe it is in the best interest of the students that the schools be part of an organization that specifically focuses its mission on education and will provide the necessary support for future success. Moreover, Centra’s core business is healthcare and this sale will allow us to solely focus on continuing to provide and enhance the care we provide to the communities we serve.”Andy Mueller, M.D., President and CEO of Centra
Earlier this year, Centra’s leadership began a thoughtful and thorough process of seeking an educational partner who would provide Rivermont Schools with the capital, resources and expertise needed in order to succeed.
After meeting with a number of potential partners, Centra signed a definitive agreement with Salisbury House on Sept. 17, 2020.
New Story Schools educates students with serious and complex behavioral and educational challenges. Their vision is to help students grow and develop as individuals to prepare for meaningful adult lives which aligns with the work of Rivermont Schools to make them an ideal partner, according to Centra.
