LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Three years after admitting their first COVID-19 patient at the start of the Pandemic, Centra announced an update in their mask policy on March 17.
Starting on Friday, wearing a mask at any Centra location will now be optional. After closely monitoring the spread of COVID to the community and hospitalization areas, Centra’s Infection Prevention Team says they are confident the new mask policy is a safe step for the community and caregivers.
“We encourage the public to continue to practice good hand hygiene, masking when not feeling
well, and staying up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters,” Centra announced in a press release.
All locations will continue to provide procedural masks to all patients, visitors, and/or Caregivers for free if they would like to do so. Centra said its team will continue to monitor the numbers in the communities and assess hospitalizations in the coming months and that visitors are still required to wear a mask for interactions with all COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and other respiratory-related patients.
