After heavy rain, Thursday Campbell County leaders warned residents water and flooding on roads and downed tree limbs will remain travel hazards until the storm passes through area.

They want to also remind residents to never cross flooded roadways.

“We encourage you to stay home and avoid traveling if at all possible,” said Tracy Fairchild.

“Wind gusts, rain, and darkness can make road conditions dangerous. Stay home and stay safe. This measure also allows service crews to work safely along roadways as they restore power and clear debris.”

Strong wind and wet soil is causing trees and power lines to fall.

Electric company crews are working to restore electricity, but say reconnection may be sporadic until the storm passes.
