ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The countdown has officially begun as runners get ready to hit the streets of Roanoke for the Blue Ridge Marathon on Saturday, April 22nd.

America’s “toughest road race” is preparing in the Star City this weekend and drivers can expect road closures and delays throughout Roanoke. The Roanoke Police Department has provided a list of streets that will be impacted by the marathon to help prepare you for smooth travels this weekend:

  • Jefferson Street, both sides, between Church Avenue and Elm Avenue
  • Franklin Road, both sides, between Williamson Road and 1st Street
  • Bullitt Avenue, both sides, between Jefferson Street and 1st Street SW
  • Day Avenue, south side, between Jefferson Street and 1st Street SW
  • 1st Street, SW, both sides, between Church Avenue and Bullitt Avenue
  • Luck Avenue, south side, between 1st Street, SW and 6th Street SW
  • 6th Street, SW, east side, between Luck Avenue and Marshall Ave
  • Winona Avenue, north side, between 8th Street and 12th Street
  • Ferdinand Avenue, SW, west side, between Highland Avenue and dead end
  • Highland Avenue, SW, north side, between Ferdinand Avenue and Franklin Rd
  • Walnut Avenue, south side, between Belleview Avenue and Sylvan Road
  • Wiley Drive, south side, between Franklin Road and Crystal Spring Avenue
  • Rosalind Avenue, SW, east side, between Evans Mill Rd and McClanahan Street
  • Rosalind Avenue, SW, west side, between McClanahan Street and 22nd Street
  • 22nd Street, SW, south side, between Rosalind Avenue and Broadway Avenue
  • Broadway Avenue, south side, between 22nd Street and Avenham Avenue
  • Avenham Avenue, east side, between 23rd Street and Clydesdale Street
  • Rosalind Avenue, SW, east side, between Cassell Lane and 27th Street
  • Jefferson Street, west side, between 24th Street and McClanahan Street

The Roanoke Police Department says there will be signs posted to indicate road closures and no parking zones. Police advise all drivers to move their vehicles before Saturday to avoid towing.
