ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — One Downtown Roanoke restaurant is closing its doors after a short time in the Star City.

Big Valley Barbecue announced on social media that it has officially closed its Lucky Avenue location, due to unforeseen circumstances.

From pulled pork sandwiches to loaded hotdogs topped with their homemade BBQ sauces, the restaurant first opened in April 2023. The “Home of the Big Flavor” restaurant had weekly specials, catering services, family packs, and more.

However, after only being in the Start City for five months, owners announced a business decision was made to permanently close its doors.

The restaurant just recently participated in the 2023 Roanoke Wing Fest at Dr Pepper Park. They also won four awards in Roanoke’s 2023 CommunityVotes as top picks in the All Restaurants category, Take Out category, and Wings category. The website also lists Big Valley Barbecue as Silver in the BBQ category.

Big Valley Barbecue officially closed on Monday, Sept. 25.
