BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) — The Bedford Fire Department is reminding the community to buckle up.

On Oct. 28, crews shared pictures from a crash on social media reminding people to wear a seat belt while driving.
Firefighters said the crash took place early Saturday morning, and the occupant of the vehicle was not injured and didn’t have a scratch.

“As a reminder……Seatbelts Saves Lives,” said the Bedford Fire Department in a Facebook post.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), seat belts save 14,000 lives each year. In fact, the United States Department of Transportation reports in 2022 the use rate for seat belts was at 91.6%.
