Local News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke has concluded its autopsy for 42-year-old Jacquelyn “Bridgett” Clark of Buena Vista and 40-year-old Mary “Becky” Williams of Rockbridge County.

Clark and Williams were reported missing Sunday, April 19. Their bodies were found in Smith Mountain Lake inside a blue 2013 Ford Explorer on Saturday, April 25.

The results show the cause of death for both women was drowning and that their deaths were accidental in nature.

The Medical Examiner’s Office would not confirm if either of the women were under the influence. The results have been shared with authorities.

WFXR reached out to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday to find out if further investigations are underway. We have not heard back as of this writing.
