UPDATE: Dog found after stolen by tractor-trailer driver in Botetourt County, authorities say

UPDATE 4:27 a.m.: Angels of Assisi announced Tuesday night that Schatzi — the dachshund taken by a tractor-trailer driver in Botetourt County Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office — has been found and is set to be returned to her owner.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Both residents and law enforcement are on the lookout for a dog that was taken by a man in Botetourt County Monday afternoon.

According to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, a report came in at approximately 3:20 p.m. on June 29, about a dog running loose near the intersection of Brookfield Lane and Willowbrook in the 1000 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office says a witness reported the dog was taken by a man driving a white tractor-trailer with a sleeping cab. At the time, the man was believed to be the owner, but authorities have since discovered the dog belonged to a nearby resident.

Officials say the dog is a long-haired, female Dachshund named “Schatzi.”
