AT&T workers let their voices be heard on Friday.
They say they’re fighting for a fair *new* contract at a rally held outside the AT&T store on Valley View Boulevard in Roanoke.
AT&T tells us the nation-wide contract, which covers more than 21 thousand workers, is still being negotiated after the February 11th expiration date.
Workers say they want a contract where they feel as though they have job security.
AT&T says they’re not proposing to cut anyone’s pay or benefits and they’re confident an agreement will be reached soon.
“We’re fighting for a fair contract. We’re fighting for, just fairness for the employee, job security, good wages, good benefits. We’re here to say, we’re not going away. We want to be treated fairly,” said Melissa Morris, Union Mobilizer Coordinator.
An AT&T representative says they won’t discuss details of proposals currently on the table but they’re confident employees will be financially better off in this new contract when they reach an agreement.
