ALTAVISTA, Va. (WFXR) — An Altavista man was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 20, for allegedly using counterfeit money in several businesses in the area on Feb. 18.
Steven Thomas Weeks, 42, was charged with forging coin or banknotes in violation of Virginia state code.
Four businesses including El Cazador, Pink Fashion & Beauty, CVS, and Hardee’s reported the counterfeit bills, Police Chief Tommy Merricks said.
Merricks said the counterfeit bills are probably props used in movies and TV.
Weeks was transported to the Blue Ridge Jail in Rustburg under a $1,000 bond.
