VSP investigate fatal car crash in Alleghany County

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police is investigating a car crash that took the life of a West Virginia man in Alleghany County Saturday evening.

According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 7:07 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 along Route 311, about two tenths of a mile west of Tuckahoe Road.

Police say a 1994 Chevrolet was traveling east on Route 311, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

Officials say the Chevrolet’s driver — identified as 57-year-old Michael Raikes Johnson of Alderson, W.Va. –was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which is still under investigation.
