Monday afternoon house fire under investigation in Covington

COVINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — Covington first responders were called out to Stuple Lane on Monday afternoon to battle a house fire.

According to the City of Covington, members of the Covington Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service responded to 1137 Stuple Lane shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11 for a report of a house fire.

When crews arrived at the scene, they reportedly found smoke coming from the house, went inside to battle the active fire, and quickly gained control.

Officials say that the people living in the home were able to get out safely. There is no word on whether anyone was injured as a result of this fire.

At this time, the city says that investigators do not believe the circumstances surrounding the fire were suspicious.
