ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Monday the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Alleghany County, Ann Gardner, reported a man was found guilty in the shooting death of his father.
Augustine Jeter, Jr. plead guilty to the first-degree murder in the death of Roland Augustine Jeter, Sr. Gardner says the shooting happened on March 18, 2022 on Chestnut Street in Covington.
An autopsy report found the victim’s cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head. Jeter Jr. told Virginia State Police that he shot his father after an argument.
Jeter also plead guilty to a second offense of driving under the influence for another incident that occurred on January 1, 2022.
Ann Gardner says a sentencing hearing for both charges is scheduled in Alleghany County Circuit Court on January 9, 2023.
