Craig County Fall Festival returns after 1 year hiatus due to COVID-19

CRAIG CO. Va. (WFXR) – The Craig County Fall Festival in New Castle has returned for 2021.

Last year’s event was canceled due to Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidelines and regulations associated with COVID-19.

This year, Craig County residents were very excited to get out of the house and enjoy the event, even under the weather conditions.

The Craig County Historical Society, the chief sponsor for the event, says vendors were very eager to get out there and raise money for local organizations and small businesses. Just like the Emporium on Main Street, they receive a lot of business during the festival every year.

A local veteran Jim Jones, a former Craig County resident, talks about reuniting with old friends and family in the area this time of year.

“Like when you watch the TV or hear on the radio…it’s called Middle America. And I think this is the perfect example of Middle America,” Jones said.

He also says the event hasn’t changed in years and he really hopes it stays that way.
