Covington man connected with Capitol riot faces new charges for assault

COVINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — A Covington man, already facing charges in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, now faces more charges.

Joshua Haynes was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a family member.

According to court documents, Haynes is facing charges for felony strangling and malicious bodily injury. This is in addition to multiple misdemeanor assault charges from back in February.

Haynes was out on pre-trial release following his arrest in connection with the Capitol riot.

Because Haynes allegedly violated the terms of his release, a federal arrest warrant may be issued.
