COVINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — A new Facebook group aims to help get answers for the family of Aggie Albert.
Becky Beckstoffer, Albert’s Niece, created a personal blog titled “Help Solve Aggie Albert’s Murder.”
In it, Beckstoffer writes, “I’m begging for community help. Someone has to know something, even if they don’t think it’s relevant. Gossip, opinion, hearsay or a gut feeling, please contact me. You can call, email, message thru Facebook or state it here on this page for all to see.”
Albert was murdered on July 3, 1992. Her body was found outside of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
“Aunt Aggie’s second home was Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 255 W. Main Street. She was one of 2 organists and was charged with keeping the church clean. On Thursday night, July 2, 1992, Aunt Aggie went to church to practice the organ and prepare for the weekend Masses. She was quite the night owl and didn’t leave the house until about 9:30 pm,” Beckstoffer writes.
Albert’s death placed fear in the small community and still haunts people today.
Beckstoffer’s way of coping is to solve her aunt’s murder. She has spent the last 28 years investigating the case herself. Beckstoffer has even shared some of her work with the special agents assigned to the case.
In July of 2019, WFXR News reported that DNA from the case was being tested using the latest technology.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, Virginia State Police said they are still hoping that advancements in DNA technology will prove beneficial.
Anyone with information that may help investigators with this case is asked to call Virginia State Police at (540) 380-5700.
