Alleghany Humane Society seeking info after cats abandoned at shelter

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Alleghany Humane Society is asking for the community’s help after three cats were abandoned at the shelter late Tuesday night.

According the the humane society, the three cats in the picture below were left at the facility just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

The Alleghany Humane Society says it is illegal to abandon animals, as stated on the facility’s sign:

Abandonment
Section 3.1-796.122

Any person who abandons any dog, cat or other domesticated animals in any public place shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.

No animals shall be left at this shelter before or after regular business hours as posted!

Violators will be prosecuted!

The humane society says they have footage of the vehicle and will analyze their surveillance video later in the day.
