Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office warns of ‘fictitious’ USPS text scam

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has announced a scam that’s circulating around the Highlands.

The scam involves a text message that’s being sent by a fake USPS phone number claiming that the person needs to pay a fee to receive a package.

The text message also has a link for the person to click.

The department is urging anyone who receives this alert to not click the link
