ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Alleghany County Public Schools says that members of the school board approved some changes on Monday to the academic calendar for November.

According to the district, the Alleghany County School Board decided to turn Monday, Nov. 22 and Tuesday, Nov. 23 into “non-school days,” which means that only 12-month employees will report to school.

In addition, school officials say that Wednesday, Nov. 24 will be a holiday, closing all offices and buildings for the day.

Alleghany County Public Schools announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Oct. 19 that the two-day closure will not affect the seat time and clock hour requirements for K-12 students because of the “current standard school day schedule and banked time accumulation during the first semester.”
