ALLEGHANY, Va. (WFXR) — The Alleghany Sherriff’s Office announced that their Chief Deputy, Matthew A. Bowser, has been fired after being charged with a DUI on April 1st.

On Saturday, Bowser was allegedly involved in a vehicle crash. The details surrounding the incident are still being investigated by the Virginia State Police and have not yet been released.

At this time, Bowser has been charged with the following:

  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Refusal to take a Blood/Breath Test

Following the arrest, the Alleghany Sherriff’s Department reported that Bowser is no longer employed with them and said they are “saddened and disappointed with this event.”
