There’s something bright happening at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
All of the light bulbs in the building are being changed to LEDs.
There are 42,000 bulbs in all, and the project is expected to be finished by the fall.
They have been able to replace more than 500 bulbs a day, and have replaced more than 4,500 fo far.
According to a hospital spokesperson, LED bulbs offer better patient safety and have been shown to help promote healing.
The project is also reducing costs and energy consumption for Carilion.
According to a press release from the hospital, the project also has the same environmental impact as taking 600 cars off the roads each year.
