5-year-old boy killed in car crash in Pittsylvania County

A 5-year-old boy was killed in a car crash in Pittsylvania County the day before Halloween. 

According to state police, the crash happened on Tuesday, October 30 at 1:34 pm.m. on Route 40. 

A vehicle was driving east on Route 40 when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree head-on. The 32-year-old driver from Durham, N.C. who was wearing a seatbelt was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two juvenile passengers were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A third passenger, a 5-year-old boy did not survive. 

All three kids were secured in child safety seats/booster seats.
