Local church serves free meals to first responders

New Life Christian Ministries held their first responders appreciation meal in the parking lot of the church. Officers, firefighters, and first responders from Roanoke, Botetourt, Franklin, and Bedford counties, along with Roanoke City and Salem could all grab a bite to eat. The church even provided a drive-through service as well. For church members this is all about making sure our public servants are taken care of.

“Being a policeman you put your life on the line everyday, firemen put their lives on the line just to protect us. EMS crews. I just felt like it was a great way for our congregation and our church to say thank you to a group of men and women who do that for us everyday,” says New Life Christian Ministries senior pastor Tony Atkinson.

More than 300 first responders attended or picked up a meal. New Life Christian Ministries hopes to do this again next year.
