Powerful 7.0 earthquake reported near Acapulco, Mexico

(WFXR) — A massive 7.0 quake rocked the resort town of Acapulco, Mexico Tuesday night. The quake was felt as far away as Mexico City, only 200 miles to the north. It has been reported that buildings were swaying in parts of the Capital City of Mexico City but no reports of damage.

A Tsunami Threat in the region has been posted. No warnings, watches, or advisories have been issued as of 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

When more information becomes available, WFXR News will pass it along. Often times the magnitude will be adjusted, but make no mistake, this was a very large quake.
