Identity of boy struck by lightning in Bath County released


BATH COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The name of the 12-year-old boy killed by a lightning strike in Bath County has been released.

Ian Nathaniel Hall died on Sunday, September 15, hours after being struck by lightning.

Hall was from Covington.

His online obituary says he was a student at Rivermont School and a member of Good News Christian Fellowship Church. He was a football fan who loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Ian is described as always having a smile on his face.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.
