Seufer didn’t just want to win this event for himself, his teammates needed him to as well. The Hokies were trailing Florida State going into the 3,000, the team needed every point they could get.

Seufer hanging in the top three the entire race, pulled away during the final lap and took gold to the roar of the crowd.

“I knew I had to give everything I had and having my teammates, and parents, and friends and everybody come out and support, it was so loud. I couldn’t hear anything out of my right ear, everyone was just yelling so loud. I just had to do it.”

Seufer crossed the finish line with a time of 7:59.60, earning him the top spot on the podium.

His win helped the hokies become co ACC champions with Florida State.. This is Virginia Techs 5th indoor ACC title.
