LewisGale celebrates ‘Emergency Nurses Week’ by thanking frontline workers

Health

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Now is the perfect time to thank those healthcare providers and nurses who have worked extremely hard over the last year and a half to protect us amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Since it’s Emergency Nurses Week, LewisGale Medical Center is showing appreciation for frontline workers in several ways, including giving them a few treats.

“We have a lot of people that come in and work every day, just do a lot of hard work for 12 hours, and go home and just really tired,” said Michael Henson, director of emergency services at LewisGale Medical Center. “And day after day, that kind of wears on you, but they really showed a lot of resilience, kept morale up.”

This is also Advanced Practice Provider Week.

If you know or come across a healthcare worker — especially this week — a simple ‘thank you’ will go a long way.
