WATCH: New River Health District’s Dr. Bissell hosts COVID Q&A session

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Dr. Noelle Bissell, director of the New River Health District, will discuss the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination efforts during a Monday afternoon Q&A session.

This webinar comes after the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 57,703 new COVID-19 cases, 917 new virus-related hospitalizations, and 20 new virus-related deaths around the Commonwealth between Friday, Jan. 7 and Monday, Jan. 10.

Of those numbers, the VDH says more than 700 new COVID-19 cases and three new hospitalizations are from the following localities within the New River Health District:

  • Floyd County: 59 new cases and one new hospitalization
  • Giles County: 64 new cases
  • Montgomery County: 355 new cases
  • Pulaski County: 140 new cases and one new hospitalization
  • Radford: 111 new cases and one new hospitalization
