CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — On Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Noelle Bissell — the director of the New River Health District — shared the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination efforts around the New River Valley.
This Zoom briefing comes after the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 7,460 new COVID-19 cases, 250 new hospitalizations, and 144 new virus-related deaths between Friday, Oct. 8 and Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The VDH says a number of those new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are from the following localities in the New River Health District:
- Floyd County: 14 new cases, one new hospitalization, and one new death
- Giles County: 34 new cases
- Montgomery County: 62 new cases, two new hospitalizations, and one new death
- Pulaski County: 76 new cases and one new death
- Radford: Seven new cases
