Coronavirus

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — During a Tuesday morning Zoom call, Dr. Cynthia Morrow — the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts’ director — updated the community on the local coronavirus data and vaccination efforts.

This online briefing comes after the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 2,007 new COVID-19 cases, 73 new virus-related hospitalizations, and 18 new virus-related deaths around the Commonwealth as of Tuesday, Sept. 7.

In addition, one school district within the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts — more specifically, Craig County Public Schools — closed for the day on Tuesday so administration can conduct contact tracing following weekend virus exposures among students and staff.
